Start off the New Year on the Right Foot!
December 29, 2015
The New Year is when we look back to the past and think of ways to make the future better. That being said, making sure that we start a new year on the right foot is essential!
Here are a few suggestions:
1. Make a resolution list
Think long and hard about all the things you said you'd do this year and you still neglected. Were those goals just unachievable or were your own shortcomings at fault? Try to focus on more concrete objectives and smaller, more achievable goals in order to eventually get to 'the big one'.
A resolution list puts your failures and achievements into perspective, but the idea is to make this constructive, instead of negative. We are our own worst critics but sometimes we just put too much on our plate. Try to find a balance!
2. Plan a fun New Year's Eve
Being around people who you enjoy spending time with is essential to feeling fulfilled. Sometimes, the laziness gets to us, but we should never miss a night like the New Year's eve. After all, it only happens once a year and we usually come to regret it when we decide to stay in. Nobody said you had to plan something fancy and expensive!
3. Dress up
Don't spend your New Year's Eve in your pajamas or a tracksuit. Dress up a little. Weirdly enough, this little action can hugely lift our spirits, which can be the key to feeling positive about the new year.
4. Take a few pictures
Nowadays, people spend a whole lot of time taking 'selfies' instead of enjoying the moment. However, I believe that a healthy balance is a good option. You want to enjoy the evening, but you might also want to remember those moments in a few years or even get a picture with that friend that you haven't seen in a while.
5. Plan something nice for the 1st of January
After that fun evening, the 1st of January can easily go back to being another dull day. However, what we're searching for is actually the opposite: making this year the best we've had. That said, why not make some nice plans for the 1st? Even if you don't wake up very early, you can have a brunch/afternoon plan.
Have a fun New Year's Eve!
